Statement:
Cathy Leather is a printmaker residing in San Rafael, California. She loves the versatility printmaking offers from drypoint mark making to photopolymer and painterly monotypes. As a volunteer with Audubon Canyon Ranch she draws inspiration from the natural world of birds and their habitats. Cathy is retired from a second career as high school visual arts teacher. She previously held positions in the fields of entertainment and technology as Art and Creative Director and Senior Director of Interactive Development in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Louisville. Her fine art work resides in private collections in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her art has been accepted into juried and non-juried shows throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Italy, Canada and Massachusetts. She holds a BA and MFA as well as California State Teaching Credential for Visual Arts and Technology. Cathy volunteers and supports initiatives dedicated to arts education, wildlife and the effects of climate change, as well as environmental justice.
